Highlights from the first week of September 2023

Greetings Friends! Here are some things that were mentioned in Prepping this week:

Vigo Watson posted some great resource documents. Check them out on the Files portion of our group page.

We have an article about the best and worst firewood types.

Gerald Hughes listed his top barter items in a comment. Very useful and practical.

- Rice ($0.50/lb)

- Wheat berries ($0.50/lb)

- Dried beans ($0.50/lb)

- Dried corn ($0.50/lb)

- Kosher salt, non-iodized ($0.50/lb)

- Calcium hypochlorite ($15.00/lb)

- .22LR ammo($0.06/rnd)

Todd Jaderborg posted a useful video from Odins Wolf Survival about making a small emergency light using things that would normally be thrown away. Practical to know!!

Author and prepping expert Jim Cobb asked for suggestions for prepping topics he should cover in his writing exploits.

Learning to Homestead started a discussion about making hard copies of important documents and other information. When the grid is down, so are our digital resources!

There are good replies to questions about a possible government shutdown, and about prepping with limited storage space.

A discussion about fall foraging was posted as well.

Finally, we need to keep an eye out for scammers as we grow. Please report them so we can keep our group one of the best places for prepper information and discussion as possible.

You are all amazing. Thank you for your support and Have Fun Prepping!

Ruth
